SEVENTH GENERATION294. Matilda BLYTH
was born on 14 May 1840 in Virley, Essex. 1901 Census shows Matilda having
been born in Virley. She was baptized on 23 Sep 1840 in Virley, Essex. She
inherited a farm and land in Rettenden from her father on 7 May 1881. Her father
instructed his trustees to hold the farm and lands called 'Bartlets' in Rettenden
for the sole use of his daughter, Matilda. The farm was occupied by Thomas Edward
Beadel. If Matilda should die, the legacy would revert to the Trustees for them
to dispose of. The proceeds were to be split equally between any children Matilda
may have had once they reached 21 years old. The residue of her fathers estate
was to be disposed of. The proceeds would pay any outstanding debts and the remainder
of the money was to be split equally between Matilda and her brothers and sisters.
In a 3rd Codicil to the Will, written following the death of her mother, Matilda
was to share with her sisters all her fathers clothes, remainder of the plated
articles, jewels, china, trinkets, household effects and carriages and harnesses.
1881 Census: Matilda, 42, was living with her husband and daughter at Hall
Farm, Sternfield, Suffolk.
She was married to Frederick Binmer FLINDELL on 26 Nov 1863 in Writtle, Essex.
Frederick of Framlingham, was the eldest son of Mr J.O. Flindell, late of Whitton.
Matilda was the 3rd daughter of Mr S. Blyth of Sturgeons Farm, Writtle.
Frederick Binmer FLINDELL was born about 1839 in Whitton, Suffolk.
He was made Executor to the will of his wife's uncle, William Blyth, on 20 Feb
1890 in Principal Registry, London. He was made Executor to the will of his
Wife's Aunt, Elizabeth Grimwood Blyth, on 29 Nov 1893 in Ipswich, Suffolk. He
was a Farmer as per 1881 Census in Sternfield, Suffolk. Fred farmed 245 acres,
employing 7 men and 2 boys.
