Ethel made her debut in New York city in 'The Rivals'. In Dec 1928 she opened the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City, appearing in 'The Kingdom of God'. She also played in motion pictures with her brothers Lionel and John in 'Rasputin and the Empress' in 1933. Her autobiography, 'Memories' was published in 1955. It is said that Ethel had a 'youthful relationship' with Winston Churchill.

She was married to Russell Griswold COLT in 1908. She was divorced from Russell Griswold COLT in 1923. Russell Griswold COLT was born in 1882. He died in 1960. Ethel BARRYMORE and Russell Griswold COLT had the following children:
