143. Geoffrey James PIZZEY was born on 12 Jan 1891 in Hadleigh, Suffolk. He was baptized on 22 Feb 1891 in St. Mary's, Hadleigh, Suffolk. He served in the Army between 1914 and 1918. On the 3rd Sept 1914 Geoffrey enlisted into the 5th Btn, Suffolk Regiment as Private 47849. At that time he had been living at 26 High Street, Hadleigh. From 10th Aug 1915 to 10th Sept 1915 he served at Gallipoli and was in France and Belgium between 9th Jun 1917 and 2nd Dec 1918 as a private soldier. During the period 28th Mar to 1st May 1918 Geoffrey was listed as missing. He was reported as a prisioner of war at Porchin in Germany. He was repatriated on the 2nd Dec 1918 when he arrived back in Southampton.

Geoffrey received through wounds at Gallipoli on 10th Sep 1915 and had pieces of shrapnel embedded in the bones of his right leg. He also suffered from bad teeth and defective eyesight. He attended the First Western General Hospital in Liverpool, the Auxiliary Hospital, Woolton, Liverpool and the Council School Hospital in Aylesbury. He was hospitialised for 5 days, 2nd - 6th Dec 1918. He was also examined at Ranelagh Road Military Hospital, Ipswich on 17th May 1919. A casualty report shows he was also in hospital in Malta before returning to the UK.

Geoffrey was discharged on the 7th Mar 1919. From the 8th Mar he received a war pension of 8/3 per week with a 30% disablement allowance. He died in 1971. He was a School Master. He was cremated in Ipswich, Suffolk. 1891 Census: Geoffrey, 3 months, was living in High Street, Hadleigh with his parents.
1901 Census: Geoffrey, 10, was living at High Street, Hadleigh with his parents.
1934: Geoffrey and his wife were living at 16 High Street, Hadleigh at the time of his eldest sons baptism.
1937: The family was still at 16 High Street.
1939: By the time his youngest son was baptised the family were living at 11 Station Road, Hadleigh.

He was married to Mabel Hannah LUSHER (daughter of John William LUSHER and Mabel Agnes BARKER). Mabel Hannah LUSHER was born on 13 Sep 1900 in Raydon, Suffolk. She died in 1985. She was buried in 1985 in Hadleigh, Suffolk. 1901 Census: Mabel Susanna, 6 months, was living at Fox Farm, Raydon with her parents. Geoffrey James PIZZEY and Mabel Hannah LUSHER had the following children:
