87. John BLYTH was
born about 1777. He was baptized on 30 Jun 1777 in Alpheton, Suffolk. He was
made Executor to the will of his father, William Blyth, on 22 Apr 1808. He inherited
land in Broomfield and Springfield from his father, William Blyth, on 12 Oct
1810. John inherrited the following pieces of land: Long Mead - approx 5 acres;
Slate Field - approx 13 acres; Barn Field and the Barn - approx 13 acres; Honey
Lane Field - approx 13 acres; Mill Wood Field - approx 20 acres; Middleditch
Field - approx 4 acres; Wood Lane - approx 2 acres; Last Field - approx 2 acres.
These pieces of land were part of the estate of Belsted Hall Farm in Broomfield
and Springfield. John was instructed to pay £800 taken from the income earned
on the land to go towards a mortgage of £2400, the balance being paid by
his brother William.
Johns father instructed that he should have a free right of way across his brothers
land from the road near Barn Field to his farm house. John and William were to
jointly maintain the right of way by spreading 4 loads of gravel along its route
yearly.
John was also left the use of 2 cottages and 2.5 acres of land in Broomfield.
These were under a 21 year lease which commenced in 1806. John was to continue
with the conditions of the lease. The crops growing on the land were to be valued
and John was to pay his fathers executors the appropriate amount.
Johns father instructed his executors to have a valuation made of all the farming
stock, cattle, crops and equipment together with all remaining household effects
which hadn't been allocated at the time of his death. These items were then offered
to John and his brother, William. If neither of them wanted to pay for them the
items were to go to auction. The money arising from the sale was to become part
of their fathers personal estate.
John received one fifth of the residue and remainder of his fathers estate after
all debts and legacies had been paid. He was made Executor to the will of his
brother, William Blyth, on 6 Jun 1819. He was a Farmer in 1820 in Broomfield,
Essex. 1841 Census: John was farming in Broomfield.
1851 Census: John was farming 70 acres in Broomfield. He employed 4 men.
1851 Post Office Directory: John is listed as a Farmer in Broomfield. He inherited
£50 from his brother, William, on 17 Aug 1820. He inherited one quarter
share in his mothers personal estate on 23 Dec 1823. His mothers Will instructed
the Executors to convert the residue of her personal estate into money and divide
it between her four sons. He signed a Will on 6 Apr 1854. When John wrote his
will he was living in Broomfield. He died on 30 May 1854 in Broomfield, Essex.
John died aged 77 years. He was buried on 3 Jun 1854 in Broomfield, Essex.
His Will was proved on 15 Sep 1854 in Chelmsford, Essex. The Will was sworn
under £600. John was the twin brother of Thomas.
Jun 1819: John was living in Broomfield.
1841 Census: John, 60, was living in Broomfield with his wife and 3 children.They
also had a John Blyth, 75, with them.
1851 Census: John, 70, widowed, was living in Broomfield Village with his 3 children.
He was married to Rhoda JUNIPER in 1818. Rhoda JUNIPER
was born about 1797. She inherited a ring from her mother in law, Mary Blyth,
on 23 Dec 1823. She died on 22 Nov 1843 in Broomfield, Essex. Rhoda died aged
46. She was buried on 28 Nov 1843 in Broomfield, Essex. 1841 Census: Rhoda,
40, was living in Broomfield with her husband and 3 children. John BLYTH and

William BLYTH was born about Feb 1822. He was baptized on 26 May 1822
in Broomfield, Essex. He was buried on 1 Jun 1822 in Broomfield, Essex. He
died in Broomfield, Essex. William died aged 5 months.

Thomas Henry BLYTH was born about 1823. He was baptized on 23 Oct 1823
in Broomfield, Essex. He died on 25 Apr 1828 in Broomfield, Essex. Thomas died
aged 4 1/2 years. He was buried on 1 May 1828 in Broomfield, Essex.

Richard BLYTH was baptized on 21 Mar 1829 in Broomfield, Essex. He died
on 13 Jun 1834 in Broomfield, Essex. Richard died aged 5 years & 8 months.
He was buried on 18 Jun 1834 in Broomfield, Essex.

Sarah Ann BLYTH was born about 1832 in Broomfield, Essex. She was baptized
on 2 Feb 1834 in Broomfield, Essex. She inherited one third of the residue of
her fathers estate on 15 Sep 1854. The residue of the estate was to be disposed
of by the Trustees. Sarah Ann's share was to be invested and the income to be
used towards her maintenance and support. 1841 Census: Sarah, 9, was living
in Broomfield with her parents.
1851 Census: Saran, 19, single, was living in Broomfield with her father.

Mary Elizabeth BLYTH was born about 1835 in Broomfield, Essex. She was
baptized on 6 Sep 1835 in Broomfield, Essex. She inherited one third of the
residue of her fathers estate on 15 Sep 1854. The residue of the estate was
to be disposed of by the Trustees. Mary's share was to be invested and the income
to be used towards her maintenance and support. 1841 Census: Mary, 6, was living
in Broomfield with her parents.
1851 Census: Mary, 16, single, was living with her father in Broomfield Village. |
