SEVENTH GENERATION384. Robert BLYTH was
baptized on 12 Jul 1813 in Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex. He emigrated in 1841 to Adelaide,
South Australia. Robert left England on the steam ship 'Corsair', employed as
the ships surgeon. When he arrived in South Australia he settled on a dairy farm
at Mount Barker. Two years later he left for Tasmania. He was a Ships Surgeon
in 1841. 1843: When Robert arrived in Tasmania he was appointed Prison Surgeon
on Norfolk Island.
He was married to Harriet Edith GATEHOUSE (daughter of
Silas GATEHOUSE and Harriet UNKNOWN) on 30 Apr 1841 in Hobart,
Tasmania. Harriet Edith GATEHOUSE was baptized on
30 Apr 1824. She died on 24 Mar 1875 in Shrub End, Sorell, Tasmania. She was
buried in Sorell, Tasmania, Australia. Harriet is buried at Henry Street Cemetery.
A plaque in St Georges Church: Sacred to the memory of Harriette Edith, wife
of Robert Blyth, aged 55 years. Mother thou hast done thy duty well'. Robert

He was married to Selina WICKS (daughter of Mark Everson WICKS and Lucy DARBY) on 18 Aug 1882 in Sorell, Tasmania. Witnesses to the marriage were Lucy Wicks and Christy Saltmarsh. Selina WICKS was born on 23 May 1847 in Richmond, Tasmania. She died on 8 Oct 1933 in Richmond, Tasmania. She was buried on 9 Oct 1933 in Sorell, Tasmania. |
