Welcome. These pages are dedicated to all our ancestors - without whom this research would not be possible! grandma, roger & diana
Our BLYTH family can be traced back to Thomas Blyth who came from Boxted, Essex. Most of our research, so far, centres in Essex and this website is mainly based on the English part of the family. There are several other family members who have undertaken searches elsewhere, Roslyn Teirney has a site which focuses on the Australian side of the family. Details of this and others can be found on the 'Other Blyth Info' page.
The PIZZEY's originate just across the border in Suffolk. Our earliest family member here is William Pizzey who was born in the mid 1700's.
A couple of new pages recently added to the site:- Blyth Family Wills and information from other family documents.
Herbert Blyth aka Maurice BarrymoreHave you found your name on this website? If so you too are related to the Barrymore family of actors. In the late 1800's Herbert Blyth took to the stage. As this was not the most respectful of professions of the time, history maintains, he took the stagename Maurice Barrymore to protect the Blyth family name. He married Georgiana Emma Drew and their children, Lionel, Ethel and John, went on to become some of the most famous silent screen actors in the early 1900's. John Barrymore's grand-daughter, Drew Barrymore, still follows in the family footsteps.
There are many web sites dedicated to this particular line of our family, one of the more recent is by Bruce Campbell Adamson.
Over the months several people who are researching either the Blyth or Pizzey name have contacted us but they are not actually related to our family. We have suggested that they leave a message on the guestbook giving brief details of the family (names, dates and locations) they are looking for - you never know, someone may find it familiar. Feel free to leave your details on the guestbook it could lead you to that long lost cousin you've been searching for all these years!
Any research like this is ongoing, if you would like to add to or correct anything you see here please e-mail us and we'll update these pages.
Anna and Diana Pizzey.
