Auction Catalogues
The majority of these catalogues have numerous paragraphs of 'small print' relating to conditions of sale, etc. These have been ommitted.
The original documents are held by the Colchester branch of the Essex Records Office. Next to the description there is the reference number should you want to see/order a copy for yourself.
auction_catalogue On Tuesday, December 15th, 1868 an auction was held in Terling, Essex by order of the Executors of the late Mrs Elizabeth Blyth. Elizabeth died on 22nd November, the last living child of the Rev. William Kemp, pastor of the Independent Chapel in Terling for 36 years.
Her furniture, plate, linen, books and many other household items were up for sale. Click here for a list of the lots on offer and on the picture for a larger copy of the catalogue cover.

daniel blyth 1832 An auction took place in London on Monday, 26th March 1832 by the order of Daniel Oathwaite Blyth. It comprised 4 lots, the main lot being 'one of the most extensive Maltings in the Kingdom'. The other lots were the Ordnance Arms Public House, a Coal Yard and Wharf and a Granary all in the St Leonards area of Colchester.
The catalogue gave a detailed account of the properties. The original document reference number is: D/DC 27/25.
daniel blyth 1833 On December 3rd, 1833, Stonehouse Farm, St Leonards was offered for Auction, again by Daniel Oathwaite Blyth. This farm was part of his mothers estate which she requested, in her Will, be sold and the profits be equally divided between her three daughters.

Legal Documents
In July 1785 a ruling was passed by the Borough of Colchester that Daniel Blyth could discharge his apprentice, Benjamin Chamberlain.
