1867: Tolleshunt Knights is a scattered parish and seems to be in the line of an ancient Roman way from Maldon to Colchester, as, near Barnwalden, roman pavements have been dug up. It is 9 miles north east from Maldon and 10 miles south west from Colchester. The church of All Saints is an isolated building. In the chancel is a dilapidated effigy of a Knight Templar, and some defaced monuments of the Pateshali family. The register dates from 1650. The parish is 2079 acres and the population, in 1861, was 386.
Listed include: Jno Blyth, farmer and landowner, Barn Hall.
1881: Barn Hall - John Blyth, his wife, Eliza G., their daughters, Clara and Ada, and son, Frederick W. John farmed 580 acres, employing 23 men and 3 boys.
